Paul Martenstyn is a globally recognised trusted advisor in business growth and strategy for the world’s best law firms, barristers’ chambers and litigation funders. He has launched high-profile legal businesses around the world, supported senior leaders in law on commercial strategy and delivered capital deals with a combined value of many billions of dollars.
Paul started his career in barristers’ chambers in 1997 and, in 2008, joined the Magic Circle set Fountain Court Chambers, where he quickly rose to a senior leadership position. During his decade there, Paul designed and delivered one of the Bar’s most impactful and award-winning commercial strategies. Crucially, it was there that he cultivated close, lifelong relationships with the world’s leading litigators and arbitration lawyers. Paul moved into litigation finance in 2018 as Managing Director of Vannin Capital, latterly owned by Fortress, the leading New York based litigation fund. There he honed his talents in disputes finance, developing an expert grasp of the economic drivers behind the most significant cases in the global market. Notably, his network sought him out for advice on every high-value, high-stakes matter.
In 2020 Paul became the co-founder of Prosperant, with a launch mandate to develop an existing barristers’ chambers, which, under his leadership, increased revenues by a record margin. Since then, he has launched and managed a diverse group of law firms and chambers around the world, secured funding for over $500 million of cases and financings, and supported several stand-out global practices in tackling sophisticated business challenges to harness fresh growth and progress.
Throughout his career, Paul has presented at conferences around the world, such as the IBA and COMBAR, on topics ranging from business development, operational strategy, performance analysis, and market economics right through to big-picture innovation. Paul’s market-leading dedication to client service, leadership and innovation has been consistently recognised in Chambers and L500 for the past 15 years. Paul has also been an integral member of Save the Children for over 25 years, including a role as Chair of the African Advisory Board, where he led a team to raise over $20 million. In 2022, his longstanding service was recognised by an invitation to join the Vice President’s circle.
